Thanks to the Buhr Foundation we have an opportunity to raise $15,000 to feed families in need. Every donation we receive for the food pantry will be matched dollar for dollar up to $7,500 from now until Giving Tuesday on December 3.
According to an October 2019 MLive article, more than 20,000 Washtenaw County residents were hungry at times in 2017 but did not qualify for federal food assistance. Because the local cost of living is high, people living paycheck to paycheck struggle to make ends meet. When they visit SOS's food pantry to stock up on groceries, they can spend more money on other basic needs like housing, medical care, and transportation.
SOS's food program offers families enough food to make several healthy meals that they can eat together at home.
